YEAR 6 NORTH STAR TRIP MONDAY 6TH OCTOBER to THURSDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2008
On Monday 6th October at 5am in the morning 52 children and 5 members of staff embarked on the adventure of a lifetime??4 days of intense activity at a special Outdoor and Adventure Camp called North Star in the Emirate of Fujairah.
After a smooth passage through check in, customs and passport control the children boarded the plane to Dubai with great anticipation. The children were exceptionally well behaved on the plane.
On arrival in Dubai airport they quickly passed through the airport to collect their baggage and board a bus to transport them to Fujairah. After a 2 hour journey they arrived somewhat tired and hungry at North Star.
The following morning children were put into 4 groups and then told which activities they would be doing over the next 2 days.
The children participated in mountain biking, GPS and route finding, climbing, abseilling, kayaking and raft building over the two days with many of them experiencing these activities for the first time. Personal challenges were met and overcome. Friendships were tested and team work was essential. The children attacked the activities with enthusiasm and good humour. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces at the end of each day.
In the evenings there were team games, a Talent Show and the ?Frosties? challenge (even the teachers joined in on that one)
Then, on the Thursday morning, everyone left in the buses for the Dreamland Water Park. A packed lunch was eaten before entering the park and once changed it was head for the nearest scary ride and have heaps of fun, fun, fun! After 2 hours all the children were feeling quite tired and ready for the rest of the journey to the airport.
The buses arrived on time at Dubai airport and after an hour check in the children were given free time to look around the airport duty free. They were all very sensible and showed responsibility, good behaviour and politeness to other passengers whilst purchasing their gifts.
The flight back was uneventful with the children now feeling quite exhausted after the busy 4 days and nights they had been through.
